The story behind carmun.
carmun was born out of my own frustration. After years of working as a senior executive at AOL, I went back to school to get a Ph.D.
I’d gotten used to the collaborative nature of business, where working together to solve problems is necessary and expected. By comparison, I found my life as a student lonely and isolating. Few were willing to burn the midnight oil discussing Beowulf, and fewer still would listen to me read it aloud in Old English. I figured there had to be fellow travelers out there, but I just didn't know how to find them.
Through this experience, I got the idea for carmun. It connects students who need advice, guidance, help with sources and ideas (and who doesn’t?) with those who’ve been down the same paths. carmun helps students easily organize their research. It also expands the boundaries of universities by creating a database of rated and reviewed sources. Imagine a community where you can tap into the combined experience and intelligence of students around the country or even the world. That’s what we’ve imagined from the beginning. We hope you’ll help us build this at carmun.
